Audio is important to be immersed in the simulator, and therefore it is crucial to have a good and working system. Our system currently consists of:
- Pioneer VSX-321 with original subwoofer and Z906 satellite speakers. (Prepar3D and system sounds)
- Aural warning unit (ProSim Audio) which has the following warnings:
- Overspeed warning
- Take Off configuration Warning
- Landing gear and flaps warning
- Fire warning
- Chimes
- Autopilot disengage
- Cabin pressure warning
- Crew call
- Selcal alert
- Overhead speakers (ProSim Audio & RAAS)
- ATC
- Spoken warnings
- RAAS
- Planned: 2x Buttkickers for added realism.
ProSim Audio makes it possible to use different computers for different speakers, which greatly reduces the need for expensive sound cards. ProSim also introduced an intercom system for use with the Audio Selector Panel, VHF and Boom for added realism.
The aural warning unit and the overhead speakers share the same amplifier, but runs on different channels. It’s a 19″ rack-mountable amplifier designed for PA use mainly, but it fits our use case.
